What is Pixiu?

Pixiu (貔貅) is a powerful mythical creature in Chinese folklore, known as the ultimate symbol of wealth attraction and protection. With the head of a dragon and the body of a lion, Pixiu is believed to have an insatiable appetite for gold, silver, and jewels — but no way to expel them, making it the perfect guardian of wealth.

History & Origins

Dating back over 2,000 years, Pixiu has been revered in Chinese culture as one of the five auspicious animals. Ancient warriors would carry Pixiu into battle, believing it would bring victory and fortune.

Types of Pixiu

Tian Lu (天禄)

The male Pixiu with one antler, responsible for attracting wealth.

Bi Xie (辟邪)

The female Pixiu with two antlers, responsible for warding off evil spirits.

How to Place Your Pixiu

  1. Face the door or window — Pixiu should face outward to attract wealth from outside
  2. Never face a mirror — reflections confuse the creature
  3. Place in the wealth corner — the southeast corner of your home or office
  4. Keep it clean — dust regularly with a soft cloth
